Call for Submission

Model Men
Editor: Neil Plakcy
Publisher: Cleis Press
Deadline: December 1, 2010
Payment: $60.00 per story, payable on publication, plus 1 copy of the book

Who hasn't experienced a pang of lust or longing at a photo of a male model? Whether a hundred times life size on a billboard, or romping through the pages of a glossy magazine in his Calvins, Tommys or Ralphs, the male model is the gold standard for masculine beauty.

But what happens behind the scenes at those South Beach photo shoots or Manhattan runway shows? When the students put away their sketch pads, and the photographers shelve their lenses? Model Men will show these men at their handsomest and sexiest moments.

The editor of Hard Hats, Surfer Boys, Skater Boys and The Handsome Prince is looking for great stories focused on male models. Hand models, silver foxes, and locations around the world are fair game for Model Men. I’d love to see stories set in the traditional locales of New York, London, Milan and LA as well as other, unexpected places. Surprise me, romance me, get me hot and bothered!

Story length: 3,000 5,000 words

Deadline: December 1, 2010

Publication Date: 2011

Payment: $60.00 per story, payable on publication, plus 1 copy of the book

Submit your story to Neil Plakcy at as a MS word attachment."

Obviously you will not be tied to having to provide detailed plot, numerous characters and enough varied types of sex to fill a novel, but the story should be about more than 'some people having sex'. The emphasis is on intensity, imagination, erotic tension, pleasure and explicit action and what's-at-stake for the main character. We want to position these as suitable for the general reader as well as erotica fans.
We pay a flat fee of £50 providing your story is 2 - 4000 words (though 4K is preferred). Payment is made on publication; letter of acceptance is issued one month prior to publication. Accent Press will retain worldwide publication, e-book and audio copyright for five years. Please ensure full rights are available before submitting stories (we do not make exceptions to our standard contract).

Bight Me

. Sunday, August 29, 2010

Interested in a little romantica (erotic romance) science fiction? Tymber Dalton has a wonderful book called Love at First Bight that you should check out. Now. Right now.

Full of wonderfully wounded characters and a cool new futuristic world, I read this one straight through then went in search for more books by Tymber Dalton. While this is the only sci fi I could find by the author, she does have some great shifter fantasy out there as well.

TD has a way of making the reader not only relate to her characters but bond with them so that you find yourself completely emotionally involved in the story. Not a ton of action but that just doesn’t seem to matter when you have such wonderful characters to fall in love with.

You can find Love at First Bight on Amazon (or Bookstrand if you want to purchase it as an ebook). Hope TD writes some more sci fi soon.

Where My Heart’s At

. Saturday, August 28, 2010

Celta, the world Robin D. Owens created for her Heart series, is literally magical. That's because 400 years ago witches colonized the planet. In the first book of the series, Heart Mate, we meet Rand T'Ash and Danith Mallow, two well-developed and relatable characters. This book (and all the others in the series) has everything: love, danger, magic, magic everywhere.

My only problem with Robin D. Owens is she doesn't write fast enough...I'm always impatiently waiting for her next book to come out. Luckily the series is good enough to read over and over again.

The books in the series in order of release are:

Girls Who Bite Call for Submissions from Cleis Press

. Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Delilah Devlin at Cleis Press has a call for submissions:

Girls Who Bite

Editor: Delilah Devlin

Publisher: Cleis Press in Fall 2011

Deadline: November 1, 2010 (earlier submissions preferred)

Payment will be $50.00 USD and two copies of the published book upon publication

Girls With Bite is open to all authors.

Editor Delilah Devlin is looking for lesbian vampire stories for a romantic erotica anthology entitled Girls Who Bite.

“Dark hungers, shocking thirsts… For blood, for connection… A sharing of nourishment and comfort… Infliction and acceptance of pain…”

A vampire is the ultimate bad girl. The word invokes images of dark, shadowy liaisons, forbidden desires, and sensual blood lust. Whether the story depicts a traditional blood-drinker seducing a meal, a psychic vampire stealing life-force from an unknowing host, or a real-life sanguinarian seeking a partner to share a ritual bloodletting to cement a bond, the stories should be varied and unexpected. Writers are encouraged to investigate vampire myths from around the world, looking for something fresh to add to the pantheon. Published authors with an established vampire world may use that setting for their original short story.

The stories may be as kinky or vanilla as the writer wantsbut a deep sensuality should linger in every word. Exotic locations and scenarios are welcome. Keep in mind there must be a romantic element with a happy-for-now or happy-ever-after ending. Strong plots, engaging characters and unique twists are the ultimate goal. Please no reprints. We are seeking original stories.

How to submit: Prepare your 2,000 to 4,500 words story in a double-spaced, Times or Times New Roman, 12 point, black font Word document with pages numbered (.doc, NOT.docx) OR rich text format. Indent the first line of each paragraph half an inch and double space (regular double spacing, do not add extra lines between paragraphs or do any other irregular spacing). US grammar (double quotation marks around dialogue, etc.) is required. Include your legal name (and pseudonym if applicable), mailing address, and 50 word or less bio in the third person to If you are using a pseudonym, please provide your real name and pseudonym and make it clear which one you’d like to be credited as. Authors may submit up to 2 stories. Delilah will respond to you in November 2010. The publisher has final approval over the manuscript.

Payment will be $50.00 USD and two copies of the published book upon publication.

Direct any questions you have regarding your story or the submission process to Delilah at

About the editor: Ms. Devlin has published over sixty erotic stories in multiple genres and lengths. Her published print titles include Into the Darkness, Seduced by Darkness, Darkness Captured, Down in Texas and Texas Men. Her short stories are features in Zane’s Purple Panties, and Cleis Press’s Lesbian Cowboys, Girl Crush, Fairy Tale Lust, Lesbian Lust, and will be featured in Carnal Machines and Passion. She is published by Avon, Kensington, Atria/Strebor, Ellora’s Cave, Samhain Publishing, and in 2011, Berkley.

Call for Submissions

Two anthologies from Storm Moon Press

Deadline: November 30th, 2010

Payment: $0.013 per word (based on final, edited word count) paid upon publication, plus a PDF copy of the e-book, and two contributor copies of the print book.

Wild Passions

Other worlds, other planes of existence, other places where humans are not the only type of creature to walk and talk. Human-like animals populate the new anthology from Storm Moon Press!

We are looking for male/male romance stories involving at least one partner that is an anthropomorphic animal; that is, a humanoid, bi-pedal creature with human intelligence and some animal features. For example, tail, ears, claws, changes to eyes and/or teeth, even fur, feathers, or scales, are all acceptable. We do not want, however, shapeshifters, mythical creatures that part human-part animal, or full animal forms. Acceptable genres for this anthology would be contemporary (urban) fantasy, high fantasy, or science fiction. The stories do not need to be explicit in nature, but romance is required.

Length of submissions should be between 10,000 and 15,000 words.

Only short stories that still have their First English language rights still attached will be considered, and we do ask for exclusive electronic and print rights for two years, at which time, all rights revert. We do not accept simultaneous submissions.

Payment is $0.013 per word (based on final, edited word count) paid upon publication, plus a PDF copy of the e-book, and two contributor copies of the print book.

We are accepting submissions from August 1st, 2010 until November 30th, 2010. Acceptance notifications and contracts will be issued during the month of December. All content to be featured in "Wild Passions" will be edited. Planned release for both the e-book and print book is June 17th, 2011.

Details and submission guidelines can be found at our website:

Daughters of Artemis

Werewolf lore has been long dominated by the strong alpha male, but what of the strong alpha females? The Storm Moon Press anthology "Daughters of Artemis" explores this long neglected aspect of the werewolf mythos.

In this anthology, we're looking for female/female erotic romance stories with at least one partner being a strong werewolf in a position of authority. This may be a pack leader, a council member, one of the tribe elders, or any other similar position. We would prefer urban fantasy or urban horror in a contemporary or historical setting. Please, no sex scenes in which the characters are in full animal form. Full human or partial shift is all right, but nothing more bestial than that.

Acceptance notifications and contracts will be issued during the month of January 2011. All content to be featured in "Daughters of Artemis" will be edited. Planned release for both the e-book and print book is July 18th, 2011.

Archangel’s Kiss

. Friday, August 6, 2010

I just finished reading Archangel's Kiss, the second book featuring Elena, the vamp hunter, and Raphael, the archangel, in the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh. And let me just say that this book was even better than the last (Angels' Blood).

The series picks up after Elena wakes from a year long coma to find that Rafael's kiss has converted her into an angel. A dream come true? Not really. As the first human to be converted to an angel in...maybe ever, Elena's pretty new wings are garnering way too much attention from way too many nut job angels.

When someone decides the best way to prove they belong on the big bad council is to kill Elena, complications ensue. Then when Elena and Raphael attend the ball that Lijuan, the insane, is giving in Elena's honor all hell breaks loose, and Elena has to fight to keep her new angelic life.

Killer Angels

. Wednesday, August 4, 2010

Just read a fantastic book by Nalini Singh titled Angels' Blood that’s part of her Guild Hunter series.

The main character, Elena, is a kick ass vamp hunter – sound like the same ol’ same ol’? Wrong. In Elena’s world vamps are created by angels to use as servants until their debt for the gift of immortality is paid off. LOVE IT!

Enter Raphael. Cold, hard, and incredibly sexy, Raphael is one scary archangel that no one with half a brain wants to mess with. Unfortunately Elana doesn’t have a choice. Raphael demands her assistance in catching a rogue archangel who’s off on a killing spree.

Raphael treats Elena pretty badly at first but she gives right back, sometimes even worse than she got. It was great fun to live in this unusual world with two very snarky but lovable characters. My only snark is that a couple of scenes were repetitive (same argument down to the words, no change) and should have been edited out. Because, let’s face it, no one wants to read the same scene twice. Meh.

Still, I can’t wait to get the next book in this series and check out her other Psy-Changeling series, too.

No Better World Than The Otherworld

. Monday, August 2, 2010

Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series brings a fresh take on werewolves. But the series doesn’t just concentrate on werewolves. The main characters of several of the books in the series are witches, demons, necromancers, etc. However the most popular protagonist is Elena Michaels, a werewolf. She stars in the first book of the series, Bitten, as well as the latest release, Frostbitten.

The great thing about Elena is that she is a tortured soul who has found a way to redeem herself despite the setback of being bitten by Clay, her (on again, off again) werewolf boyfriend.

What I love about Clay is that he truly loves Elena but can’t seem to stop hurting / annoying / putting her in danger.

As the reader, I couldn’t decide who to cheer for more: Elena or Clay. I know they belong together. I just didn’t know if it was possible - with Elena’s past and Clay’s present behavior - for them to be together.

There isn’t a book in this series that I don’t love. KA’s books have relatable (if sometimes not-so-likeable) characters, beautiful physical and emotional descriptions, and interesting plots/themes.

The books in the Women of the Otherworld series are:
